Hey there Very Happy
Guess this is a fairly late stage to be starting a project thread, as it is now 18 months in, and quite a lot of the work has been completed.

My baby is a MK1 MX5.

My adventure with her started off last year, I bought a very rusty car off Ebay, and a nice almost rust free shell from my mate Painterdave.

The plan was to quickly respray the shell my favorite colour, then move the drivetrain over etc, and get her running pretty quick....

This didn't happen.

I ended up making a subtle wide body kit, consisting of full rear quarters and full fibreglass front wings.
I bought a second hand turbo kit
I also decided to do a full wire tuck in the engine bay....

to cut a very long story short, I started with these :-

and via this,

To this Very Happy

I eventually got to this at 2:30pm on Friday the 9th of september. Our first trip together was a 100mile+ drive down M1 and A14 to put her on the MX5nutz stand at JAE.

If you are interested in reading more, ive got a build thread over on MX5nutz covering the last 18 months slog by me and my mates.

There is still a load of stuff to come. I'll be moving to COP using megasquirt 3 over winter
upgrading the inlet cam (using a cut down exhaust cam)
getting the water and meth injection running
finishing up the tuning and getting rid of a few rattles.
new gauges and a host of other stuff too.

for anyone who likes numbers, she is now running 244BHP at the fly wheel using the TD04 turbo, FMIC, and TEC2 ECU.

hoping to make it to the meet in October, so hopefully see some of you guys real soon Very Happy

Funnily enough I like the headlamps, are the lamps behind the grooves so they shine in the slot or do they raise as normal?

Yeah I'm hoping to make it along Very Happy will be popping down from nottinghamish (well jnc 26 of the M1) anyone convoying down from my neck of the woods?

The headlight covers are just vented covers, the lights pop up as usual.
They do tend to split opinions Very Happy but I made them the way i wanted them Very Happy
They are molded in fibreglass, i made the molds and the finished covers in my shed at home Very Happy same for the wide arches and front wings, I kinda like fiddling with things.

thanks for all the kind words on her Very Happy she is still a long way from finished, but i'll get her there, hope to see you all soon Very Happy
