Ok girls. Next update ready for you. New clutch is being payed for next Friday, silicone rad hoses ordered, oil catch can being ordered, intercooler pipe kit next Friday. Also have a koyo rad.

All work is booked in at bens so by the end of next month I will have the fmic fitted, koyo rad fitted, clutch fitted, new exhaust. And then I can plug in my cockpit kani ecu and watch the magic happen. Rough guesstimate is between 230-240bhp (perhaps a little more but don't want to say it will be incase it's not, I'm being sensible as they are 200 stock)

Stay tuned......

Ok I've been reading up on numerous forums for the past few days.

I've discovered the fd greddy intercooler prob won't fit as the pipes come out the rear of the core towards the engine, not the sides, an depending on the width of the intercooler may nit mount properly. I will be test fitting it Thursday to find out, if not I will sell it and get an fc kit (around £250 off net used). However, whilst researching this I've found that te stock top mount is good for 10psi (7.5 stock) and turbo 14psi, so I'm gonna try test fitting the stage 1 ecu also, whilst maintaining a stare at the temp gauge. I should also be getting my koyo rad on Friday to help with cooling.
Allegedly, with the parts on my fc I have already (and the clutch and exhaust repaired) it should be capable of up to 280-300bhp (running around 10 psi) but I'll wait until all is done to see for myself.

I've also brought the lower arms that are currently bent on mine, and also hopefully getting a new wheel nearing Friday to replace my passenger side which is on the way out.

So all is on track for jae, perhaps I will not have a fmic, but from what I have read it would mainly be cosmetic at this point in my build. Until I push over 10psi it is not a necessity.

Were getting there Smile

so....as promised, i fitted my ecu this morning, ive taken it out for a quick spin and feels more solid and slightly quicker, however it was only a 5 minute play to check it works fine. THe original ecu was an N380 (uk spec cab series5) and the new cockpit kani is a n374 (jspec s5). there are no real differences, apart from this one should be running around 9-10psi rather than the stock 7.5.
Also collected my new lower arms to replace the current ones which are bent, and my new silicone hoses for the radiator. And i took a quick pic of the carbing gear knob as i have not uploaded one to hear yet.

I was going to test fit the intercooler, however the weather is dismal and to test fit it i have to remove the front bumper, therefore my DIY jobby indicator wiring and im not going to risk shorting it. ill try it on sunday weather dependant.

Ok so turns out the koyo rad I was gonna get won't fit, however on the plus side I've ordered my wheel bearing and a set of ngk spark plugs. Also awaiting a reply on an apexi avcr boost contoller, anyone know if I can monitor my boost levels on this or if I'll nee a tacho also?

As for having to change the solenoid to increase boost, on rx-7's the ecu controls the wastegate along with air pressure as stated below;

The RX-7 uses an "open loop," non-feedback boost controller. The wastegate, which diverts exhaust away from the turbos, is controlled by a combination of air pressure and the engine's ECU. Air pressure in the wastegate actuator opens the wastegate. The higher the pressure the more the wastegate opens. Airflow "in" to the wastegate actuator comes from the turbos themselves and is reduced by a restrictor pill in the vacuum line between the primary turbo and the wastegate actuator. Airflow "out" of the wastegate actuator is regulated by a solenoid that is rapidly cycled open and closed at a rate dictated by maps in the ECU.

I'm also ordering an apexi avcr which will help me dictate boost, and I'm porting the wastegate to cope with the higher boost, along with a 255lph walbro fuel pump to avoid failure (will also re wire the fuel pump as the age of fc's causes corrosion on wiring, as a safety precaution)

No worrys mate, but I would reccomend finding a proper cage for it and also a blanking panel that will just push fit over it!

Monday. 8.30am. Exhaust being done. 12.00 clutch, rad hoses, apexi avcr, wheel bearing, lower arm, spark plugs all being fitted.

Only thing planned left to do is get te avcr set up prior to jae, then just cleaning and basic tidying up ready for the show.

I'll update with progress

Prob need overfenders before that tbf mark, if I corner semi hard ATM the rear tyres catch on the arch, drifting will right the tyre and arch both off. Overfenders are next though
