Looking good there ezztron, loving the g/box jack lifter thingy that is quite ingenious Wink

I would have to agree with with gary about the loom for the pure fact of after all of this work the last thing you want to happen is having to re do it. IF your totally 150% confident those wide ass tyres aint' gna even come close to the loom i say fcuk it.

If you have any doubt, route it another way while your at this stage geeze. Better safe than sorry an all that jazz. Looking sweet tho and lovin' the commitment as always Wink

I finally pulled my finger out my ass and started on the S again

since im not rushing to get it ready for anything i can take my time and enjoy it again. Plus i need to do like 1 hour tidying everytime i work on it, from rushing to try to get it ready for JAE i completely fucked the garage up, shit is everywhere again.

anyway, i got another can of paint today to finish the subframe:

(i got an iphone4 finally btw so the pics from this point of the build should be better)

then got the lacquer on, i cant beleive the difference the lacquer made to the colour, the pics exaggerate it but the colour is alot more 'rich' after lacquer:

and before anyone says it, i know its way anal over something you cant even see but fark it

also started the diff end cover, the casing itself im going to spray sliver with some engine enamel but have to wait till i have lacquered the end cover (this copper paint takes AGES to go off)

primered:

painted:

More tomorrow

Took off the old subframe today and fitted the new one, one the rear lower toe arms was seized though so i have had to fit the new subframe without one.

Im in two minds weather to get a nearly full set of ebay arms for a good price or just get 326 power rear lower toe arms at probably a high cost.

anyway:

next up, rear arms.
I want to get the rear of the car done before winter hits hard

I wouldnt trust the ebay arms if they have the allen key type locks on it, rather have a good make one ( i got SPC/Eibach on mine)

Well iv ordered some toe arms, i went with the Fortune Auto ones, they are the bent type that will miss my solid subframe bushes when riding slammed, they look pimp as fark too:

Started fitting the drivers side over fender today, got the top rivited on, just waiting for my toe arms to arive so i can straighten the wheel up to fit the bottom, atm its toeing in like crazy.

anyway got a crappy pic, threw the rear lights back in too:

lol

i tried to take advantage of the good weather as much as i could yesterday, pulled a late one with tesh.

Instead of having the fusebox in the armrest after some debate and trying it here and there tesh found the best way to route the loom without having to extend as much as far.

The fusebox will now go behind the dash where the passenger air bag would be, as my car didnt have a passenger airbag there is no pre made 'window' to get to it, so il just cut a hole and make a removable panel to cover it.

Next up i need to get some wire to extend the remaining parts, probably visit maplins the weekend.

anyway:

the thing is my dash has no airbag window, so i think im either a) going to cut a window myself and make a cover (CF or something) or b) mount the fusebo lower down and cut into the glovebo so when you open the glovebo you can get to it.

anyway

yesterday i went scouting for bits and bobs iv needed/wanted for a while:

more underseal
hammerite
Kurust
loads of wire
butt connectors
liquid gasket (had to reseal the diff, the cover came off when painting)

So after all that yesterday i spent a few hours going around the car looking for rust, any i found i plastered on some Kurust (amazing stuff)

then spent a little while undersealing the front of the car so there is no exposed metal:

Then today i spent a little while manouvering the diff into place without scratching it (its fucking heavy) and bolted it up:

Then spent the rest of the day and night getting my head round the wiring, cropped all the stuff i dont need (fog light plugs, ambient air temp sensor and the oem horn wires), un loomed it all and re routed it so it was hidden, then got to work routing it all to meet up with the rest of the loom:

Today was a good day Very Happy

got a lathe, set it up in the shed with my dad:

was a complete bastard, its SOOOOOO heavy!!
Had to use the engine crane to get it up on the table!

Then started on the car, all wiring.
Got the new front loom 'loomed' up, I was going to use the swanky braided looming but i read it wasnt waterproof :s so i had a bag full of plastic ribbed loom i had hoarded over the years. i only had brown tape Sad you wont be able to see it anyway though i suppose.

Fitted the ambient air temp sensor for the climate control in the wing si its not visable up front.
Also routed the horn wire there ready.
(i need to give it another coat of underseal):

I brought 2 packs of these things, ideal if you want to secure wire but dont want to drill holes:

Used them with great effect to route the battery cable (didnt get pics)

Lights loom DONE! earths hidden away and just enough slack for fitting/removing lights:

Got more sound deadening up, this is the distribution block i used, i couldnt get a pic of it with the covers in situe, its tucked under the heater matrix:

So i nievely connected the freshly charged battery and started plugging things back in, this while time i had been convincing myself nothing would work and it would be a disaster but to my suprise:

It lives (kinda):

It felt so good to see it slowly coming back to life!
but for some reason i still wasnt getting any ign/acc :s so i was trouble shooting for ages, found a couple earths id forgot to fasten but still it wouldnt crank or give me acc/ign................I had blown the ign maxi fuse back when i rubbed through the loom, in my excitement i had completely forgot i removed it, so after a mess around bridging maxi fuse prongs with a screwdriver i found the ign slot, i nicked a 30AMPer out one of my donor looms clicked it in and.....the fuel pump came to life and SHE CRANKED!!!!!!!!1
SOOO FUCKING HAPPY!!! STILL!!

I didnt try to start it cus i had drained the oil and still havnt changed the filter etc, so next up is drop the last dreggs out the sump that may have settled down, fill the new filter up, slap it on and fill her up.

then i can start on getting it running proper!

shits encouraging, im in love with working on cars again I love you

@ Ezza, you know that metal distribution block, am I correct in assuming that its outer shell is not conductive?

I only ask because mine had a plastic shield all around the outside.
