.... But worth the extra dough? 15k can get you alot of car, pretty sure that's not far off an nsx, let alone gtr's and such for 1/3 the price. But if that's what you want, go for it man

an 08/09 white ukdm s2k is 15k+ i mean. a mint jdm 04/05 s2k is gonna cost around 10-11k.

there's alot of cars for that money that are faster, lets say, evo 9, r32/3 gtr etc. but the running costs are alot more. servicing, parts, fuel.

i want something you don't see about alot of, a fun car that loves to be thrashed out on track, but then will look respectable pulling up to work in, shopping with the mrs, etc...
a daily fun car that doesnt cost the earth to run/go drive for fun

In all the cars ive had, i havent had the same buzz that a good vtec engine gives you. and imo the F20C is the best honda engine out there - 247bhp (jdm model), then the general manifold, decat, exhaust, intake, remap will see it pushing abit more.

i dont expect it to be fast, but more importantly its in one of the best handling chassis's about.
shits gonna be like a drop top AE86 sliding about on the limit.

which CTR?
ive had en eg6 sir, ek4 sir, and dc2 sir-g and as much as i love fwd honda's, i kinda feel ive 'mastered' driving them hard, quite predictable. the s2000 will be more of a handful driving on the limit, but shit, thats way more fun.

for a daily driver/track car, the s2000 has a huge amount of stroke on the suspension, you can run them low without losing any performance from the suspension.
ep3's and dc5's for instance can't handle well when lowered to a nice level, there is very little stroke. worse than the older generation Honda's.

check this video out, two well set-up s2k's

j's racing s2000 super taikyu (group N - no internal engine modification - just weight reduction, and suspension) vs amuse s2000

the s200 is rear wheel drive so less power ..but back end action
and the ctr 03 plate is fwd and more fun more power and better round corners
but you get more power out of a rear wheel drive car

so its heads or tail on the day

watch some BMI video's and see which is best around corners.

as for power,

a uk ctr - 200bhp
a jdm s2000 - 247bhp

you do have more transmission power loss being a rwd but still, you dont lose 47bhp through the gearbox al.

any real driver/racer will argue that a true sportscar has to be RWD.

a fwd is easier to drive consistently fast on the limit, easier to correct, and very predictable, now you say thats more fun?

in my experience, the best street racing fun ive had in a car, is in a FWD Honda. But like ive said, ive driven them to their limits, and quite frankly a more challenging car is what i want.

in my experience of RWD in my S14A, driving on the limit - 80mph with a slight amount of opposite lock keeping the back end in check around a slight bend is more exciting than driving 'on rails' in a fwd.

the s2000 will be alot more rewarding to drive hard on the street, and definitely on the track

why did i like the s14a? because it was rwd, it handled and gripped well

why didnt i like the s14a? because it wasnt a honda Shocked

Honda and RWD is a match made in heaven IMO

Very nice collection of parts Dave, when you get the right s2000, should be amazing.
As for ctr vs s2000, no contest, s2000 all the way. 98spec dc2 vs s2000 is another story tho but s2000 would probably come out top again lol

with the s2000 being notoriously 'light' at the back end, most track s2000 have BGW's

Being a street car, that i'll use on track, i want it to be functional for both, which would require something more subtle.

So, ive decided on using a rear under car diffuser

GP FAB Diffuser, with side diffusers (not pictured)

This along with a small rear spoiler, possibly the oem one, will hopefully give some extra downforce over stock

I went with the GP FAB because its made from steel, which i prefered over the carbon diffuser's as they are prone to cracking, and chipping with all the stone & road debris. Ordered it in gloss black, if it gets scratched all you need is a rattle can to make it look fresh again Razz

should look at home on a moonrock S2000

i found a nice, well spec'd S15 which would of cost me less than an S2000 and kept me happy for a while, but the sale fell through. So it's back to my first choice Cool

Duane it's a simple case of finding a mint UK GT spec 04-05 in moonrock. hopefully won't be hard lol. cash waiting and i'm getting bored of not having something to mod Shocked

The exchange rate is terrible at the moment, double what it was two years ago, that along with how well S2000's are holding their value, it will cost too much to make it viable to get one.

I went to see Johnny & Luke at Tegiwa, and we sat down and looked through the Japanese auctions they use to import cars.

We priced up an 05 Ap1 (what i wanted) and it came out at 15,200 on the road.....and that was basing the final price, on its starting price. so it potentially would of cost more.

That price over here you can get a final edition 09'

We then priced up an early 99' with high miles.....9,200 on the road. based on its starting price.

You can get a 99' overe here for 4k.

We then checked out S15 prices. A clean 99' Spec R came out at 6,500 on the road.

Just proves how S2000's are holding their value. Take it as a compliment to the car haha. it's like NSX's, the Japanese hold them in such high regard that they just don't depreciate at the rate they do over here.

So i'm going for a UKDM Moonrock (dark grey) 04/05 Facelift AP1 - a case of finding a mint one now

all UK s2000's are AP1's. prefacelift & facelift.

An S2000 is only an AP2 when it has an F22C in it (JDM 06 onwards - USDM 04 onwards)

I didn't expect a British Leyland owner to know this.

Nah seriously Dave I just think your selling yourself short by getting a Uk car, you see them every day being driven by average people that don't have a clue or care that they are driving something special! Especially in grey, it's a lovely colour but everyones got a s2k in that colour.

Hold out an get the cream of the crop jdm.. It doesn't have to be a fresh import you know... They're some cracking ones that are already here!
